Independent Bookstores in an Evolving Market
The news has very pessimistic information regarding bookstores. Borders filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. The nation’s second largest bookstore closed 200 stores.
Some pundits proclaimed the end of bookstores. This is a premature conclusion. People want to buy books. Borders lost touch with their readers.

There is a fascinating article in The Washington Post. Editing Shakespeare’s provides insight on how directors adapt Shakespeare’s plays. According to the article,a director “cuts” the plays to save time. The audience is unaware of the edits, most of the time. The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s production of Julius Caesar is the perfect example of an adaptation.
